Empowering the world through CSR and market research

Marieke is a remarkable woman, whose journey in life has always been fueled by a passion for continuous learning and making a difference in the world. “As a CSR coordinator at Globally Cool, I hold the firm belief that my role is intricately connected to my marketing research responsibilities. While CSR focuses on tangible aspects like recycling and pollution, market research may seem intangible, but its impact on the environment should never be forgotten.” Marieke explains. She firmly believes in contributing to a better world. “Our research efforts contribute to a better world by empowering people in less privileged areas. With our research, we are teaching people to become more empowered, and that is, at the same time, super CSR,” she proudly states.

Striving for progress and building a better society

Marieke explains that “CSR isn’t just about environmental concerns; it extends to the well-being of people. Seeing the entire Cool team understand how their work could positively impact the world brings me immense joy and satisfaction.” At Globally Cool, sustainability and environmental care are paramount, but Marieke is equally passionate about endorsing social causes. “Globally Cool is dedicated to championing social causes. CSR is not just about the environment; it’s also about the people,” she emphasises. “As part of the company’s commitment to diversity, we celebrated the significant milestone of appointing a woman to a managerial position for the first time.”

Challenges in travelling sustainably

Marieke strongly believes that a company’s objective should go beyond merely minimising harm – it should actively contribute to building a better society. She acknowledges this is a challenging process, requiring dedication and support from across the organisation. “It’s difficult to not only stay neutral but contribute,” she confesses. As Globally Cool’s CSR coordinator, Marieke faces the challenge of finding alternatives when the team needs to travel across seas. “Travel is often necessary for our work, but together we are determined to minimise our environmental footprint. Despite our hurdles, the team’s optimism and dedication inspire me to explore greener options.”

Finding joy in the creative process of writing

Shifting gears to her marketing research role, Marieke finds solace and joy in the creative process of writing. “As a mother of three, I cherish the moments of silence when my thoughts flow freely, guiding my on the creative journey.”

“One project that I hold close to my heart was the one I tackled during the unexpected onslaught of the Covid-19 pandemic. The outsourcing sector faced uncertainty, and I was tasked with writing articles about the situation. Despite the lack of information, I relied on my intuition and emotions, pouring my heart into the articles, and my dedication did not go unnoticed.”

Marieke’s story at Globally Cool exemplifies her unwavering commitment to making a positive impact. Her passion for lifelong learning and her ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds make her an invaluable asset to the Cool team. As she continues to expand her knowledge and horizons, both she and Globally Cool grow stronger, paving the way for a brighter and better future!
